HVAC maintenance agreements

Like any other piece of equipment that carries a heavy workload, heating and cooling systems require regular upkeep.

  • All makes, models, styles and ages perform better when properly cared for.

When the system is operating as it should, it’s easy to neglect preventive tasks. However, if dust and other contaminants are allowed to infiltrate and build up within the inner workings, the equipment will begin to struggle. As parts wear out, performance diminishes and can cause greater, more expensive damage. Without annual maintenance, an air conditioner, furnace, boiler, heat pump or ductless system will lose efficiency, cost more to operate and succumb to more frequent repairs. Heating and cooling capacity will be reduced, causing the equipment to run for longer cycles and use more energy. There is the likelihood of air contamination, louder operational sounds, property damage and safety risks. The system won’t last as long. Professional maintenance is a requirement of warranty coverage. Without a record of yearly upkeep, any repairs will not be covered by the manufacturer. The best way to ensure proper service for vital equipment is enrollment into a maintenance agreement. HVAC contractors provide these service agreements to simplify the process. In most cases, the HVAC company will call with reminders when it’s time to schedule a tune-up. These plans often include perks such as priority scheduling, discounts on parts and labors and no overtime charges for after-hours emergency response. Typically, a technician visits the house twice per year. They complete the necessary cleaning, testing, trouble-shooting and adjustment of the heating system in the fall and handle the cooling unit in the spring. Proactive strategies ensure the equipment is prepared for the upcoming workload and help to avoid disruption during the season.
